This was definitely the longest and most sustained fast-pace project we've done! We had 8 hours to photography 50 employees in their uniforms and on-the-job throughout the whole property. It was a huge learning experience where I had to think on my feet, make creative decisions on the fly and find solutions to unexpected problems all while being as discrete as possible to not interrupt the experience of guests staying at the hotel! Beyond the Scenes with Petrina Olson | Las Vegas Portrait Photography

Here's a throwback to one of our very early photoshoots a several years ago when I was still using my first (borrowed) DSLR. Petrina is the reason Zen Ritual is what is today. Her natural beauty, comfort in front of the camera, valuable feedback and lessons in working with models and editing photos helped me stay interested in photography and helped me to grow much faster than I would have without her help.

Today, we are a dynamic duo in our photographic endeavors often still working together but equally comfortable working on projects separately. Our portfolio of Las Vegas portrait photography is a testament to our teamwork.

Her unique style blends classical, jazz, rock and pop idioms to create a sound that is truly at the forefront of contemporary music. Working with her is so much fun because, on the surface, she is dorky and awkward, but there is a dark anguish beneath the surface that only comes out in her art and in our collaborations.

Mandarin Oriental | Las Vegas Corporate Head Shot Photographer

Working with the highest-rated hotel in Las Vegas could have been a nerve-wracking experience for a photography studio about to do their first big corporate photography gig. Luckily, the entire staff of the hotel completely lived up to their five-star status and made the entire experience enjoyable and seamless. This is still the biggest gig we've done and we definitely rose to the occasion and produced some of our most professional-looking photos.

We only had 8 hours to photograph nearly 50 different employees in different uniforms and in different parts of the hotel – sometimes even while they were between assisting guests! Thanks to the logistical planning of our contact, we were able to finish the job in the allotted time at a huge fraction of the cost of the previous photographer and at a level of quality often surpassing his!

Brian Head, up in the mountains of Southern Utah, is typically a wintertime destination, but it's a lot of fun in the summer too! The air is clean, crisp and fresh, the views stretch as far as the eye can see and the outdoor activities are plentiful. We drove our off-road vehicle all through the forest, took the dogs on fun hikes with waterfalls and enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful mountain atmosphere.

This stunning bird of the sea represents nature's resilience and adaptability in the face of human progress. The bird, a symbol of freedom and majesty, is seen here perched upon an artifact of man, the post, itself made from and at the expense of the Earth—wood—against a backdrop of sea vessels themselves reliant upon the winds and the seas and built of forged metal that could only be possible in the last few centuries themselves floating peacefully against the backdrop of the infinitude of clouds, the sun and space beyond. 

Without the bird to remind us, would we in fact forget that our humanness resides in direct inverse to what is non-human? Does the bird looking directly at you, not remind you of your own mortality and urgency to leave something of value to the world, the world that man has so lustily exploited without so much as a thank you?

Petrina Nocturne | Las Vegas Boudoir Photography

Boudoir is fancy for bedroom and suggestive of what goes on in the bedroom. We work with singles, couples and other modern flavors of sensuality. There will always be a female assistant present to help women feel comfortable and your choice of male or female photographer to make you look your best.

These types of photos are usually only seen by a handful of people: you and your significant lifemate(s) and, obviously, us (but we'll destroy all copies so nothing gets leaked to TMZ).

The Golden Vessel | Las Vegas Creative Videographer

This was the first video Allen ever made! It combines his guitar playing, poetry and videography and was completed as part of a final project in one of his college courses. The piece being played was composed by Mexican guitar composer, Manuel Ponce. Here is the full text of Allen's poem:

The Golden Vessel

Out of the darkness, sparked a flame that grew, consuming all things. It was unstoppable. Then water came, a slow, gentle patter that turned into a storm. It too destroyed all things and was unstoppable. When these magnificent forces met, there was a flash, a terrible noise like shrieking, shrill, grinding metal on stone. Then, a great gust forced through unseen. All was quiet. Through the clearing of clouds, shone the Golden Vessel—smelted from the ore of the earth, cooled by the torrents, forged by the hammering winds—so bright and glorious, it gave the sun its light.

Let it be our task and proud labor to fill this vessel slowly from the wellspring of our Spirit. Let us keep filling until it overflows into streams and rivers, forming in all directions, waterfalls, lakes, oceans. Let these waters give life to fish, insects, birds and beasts, and on until naked man awakens. Let him drink and drink again until he brings forth his kin. Let them drink together, giving thanks with each man’s eyes drawn upwards and every heart spilled open to bring forth the riches of his Golden Vessel.

Every expecting mother is an individual too, and it's important to show that. Working with Tara was so much fun because we got to capture her Autumnal Harvest Goddess essence as well as her Beast-mode Crossfit athletic persona on two separate shoots. Yes, everyone loves the belly-in-a-field-of-grass-at-sunset look, but it was important to capture Tara in her natural environment where she spends most of her time: the gym!
